Hi Anglers, and welcome to this year’s Torbay Sea Angling Festival!

The Festival this year runs from Friday 30th August to Sunday 8th September. After the 2023 Festival and 2024 Annual General Meeting the number of Committee members volunteering to organise the event has decreased. Sadly, Graham Dryer has stood down as Festival Chairman, and Steve Hadley has stood down as the Hon Secretary, although he has agreed to act in the post for this year. Sidmouth Angling Club is no longer an organising Club of the Festival. With Committee numbers decreasing to around half of the posts being filled, what can be done as a whole is on a smaller scale than in 2023.

In the future this if this situation does not change the Festival will not be operating. So reluctantly at the AGM it was decided that if significantly more of the Committee posts are not filled by the next AGM, the 2025 Torbay Festival will be the last. If those who fish the Festival want it to continue it needs your support to be organised.

The major prizes have been improved in 2024 with the Best Fish overall receiving £750, up 40%, the three Section Prizes receiving £375, up 40% and the Day Prize Vouchers are increased to £50, up 43%. Other prizes will still be Tackle, but if finances allow there may also be Bonus Cash Prizes, decided after the Festival is completed and before the Presentation.

Due to increasing costs the entry fees has been raised by around 10% to £50 for the 9 days, with day entries raised to £8. Junior entries are £10 for the 9 days, and Junior day entries remain the same as 2023. Team entries remain as 2023 at £10. If you enter online, a small management charge is added to these entry fees.

All Anglers who enter, family and friends are invited to the Presentation Evening at the Livermead House Hotel on Saturday 5th October at 7.30pm, and there will be a £5 gift from the Committee towards drinks for every person who attends.

All the best and tight lines,

Torbay Sea Angling Festival Committee
