What's New In 2025?
Here is a list of what is changing for Anglers who enter the Torbay Festival in 2025 :-
1. The TSAF Committee Officers and numbers have been strengthened at the 2025 AGM, and the TSAF now has the ability to continue in the future, past 2025. We have lost Dartmouth ABA as an organising Club in 2024 and many thanks to Derek Caple for his long support and work for the Torbay Festival representing their Club, and thanks to Jeff Palmer for his service, Jeff resigned in 2024.
2. The Major Cash Awards as 2024 - Overall Best Specimen £750, Best Specimen Wreck £375, Best Specimen Inshore Boat £375, Best Specimen Shore £375. Day Prize Vouchers for all Sections will be changed to £30 Cash prizes. Entry Fees as 2024 - Seniors £50 for 9 days or £8 per day, Juniors £10 for 9 days or £2 per day. Teams £10. Online Entry Fees are subject to a small management charge.
3. The Specimen Weights List is reviewed for 2025, and there are 6 specie alterations from 2024, Bass from Wreck lowered, Conger from Wreck lowered, Red Gurnard from Wreck and Shore raised, Mackerel lowered all sections, Blonde Ray lowered all sections,
Small Eyed ray lowered Wreck and Inshore Boat, Scad raised Wreck and Inshore Boat. See TSAF Website and Brochure.
4. The Trophy and Prize list is updated for 2025, with some rarely won Trophies deleted and some relocated to other Sections. This allows the Festival to consider a move towards Catch & Release systems for Boat and Shore Sections in the future.
5. There is a new Trophy and Prizes in 2025 for the Angler with the longest Atlantic Bluefin Tuna captured and released, and the Vessel/Skipper which catches the longest Atlantic Bluefin Tuna with a valid Recreational UK/BFT/CRRF Permit. See TSAF Website and Brochure for Rule 12 for Guidelines.
6. A Proof of Capture requirement starts in 2025. Anglers who catch a fish potentially over 100% of TSAF Specimen Weight will be required to take one continuous video of the fish alive, with a witness if available, and the identifiable location of capture. Should
the Committee request, your video must be made available for review. See TSAF Website and Rule 6
7. A new weigh-in station will be available on Torquay harbour run by the Festival Committee between 7.00- 7.30pm each evening.
8. We are relocating the Presentation Evening on Saturday 4th October 2025 to Hookhills Community Centre, Freshwater Drive, Paignton, TQ4 7SB, 7.30 for 8.00pm.
9. The 2024 Trial with Go Catch has been reviewed by the Committee and will not be continued into 2025.
10. The 2025 Festival Boundaries as 2024 - Shore from Straight Point, Exmouth, to Bolt Head, Salcombe, and the boat boundaries leave shore from these points. See Website for Shore and Boat Co-ordinates.
11. As 2024, Juniors can only enter as one of either a Senior or Junior, not both.
12. Prize winners MUST collect their own awards at the Presentation Night in October. If you cannot attend, you must make arrangements with the Committee by 30th November to collect or receive your award. After that date the Prize will return to the
Committee for future use.
13. Please note if you purchase an Entry Ticket online you can only purchase tickets for yourself and NOT other anglers. For each ticket order the personal details for the angler can only be entered once for the angler placing the order. For example an angler can
purchase several day tickets for themselves in one order but they cannot purchase day tickets for friends or juniors in the same order. You must place separate orders for each angler so that each angler receives an individual Entry Number for the Weigh-in
details of fish you catch.
We hope the new changes being made for 2025 will improve the Torbay Festival. Your feedback and continued support is appreciated, and we aim to offer an improving quality of prizes for all in the future. Website www.torbayfishingfestival.org Facebook Torbay Sea Angling Festival.
